Alpha Delta at University of Southern California By Chapter Consultant Christopher J. Fettig, Iota (Denver) '11 The Alpha Delta chapter at the University of Southern California exhibits a true Powerhouse of Excellence mentality, both on their campus, and in the fraternity. A past Brummer Cup winner in 2010, this chapter has not stopped –continuously improving various facets of the chapter to build on their strengths and improve other areas. The 2011-2012 academic year showed just that. Recruitment this year was a huge success for Alpha Delta. With the largest spring class the chapter has taken in recent years, 22 men, they finished the year with over 50 new brothers this year, one of the largest for the Fraternity. The brotherhood couldn’t be stronger, with over 130 men and a full calendar of programming not just for brothers, but events put on by other Greek Chapters, the USC community and more. When asked what he thought contributed to Alpha Delta’s success, President J.B. Kalin said: "I think what makes us successful is our unwavering support for each other. Every member of Alpha Delta follows his passion- whether it's a particular position in the house, leadership in another campus organization, or developing his career. In the end, we all come together to work for ZBT which defines our brotherhood.” This past fall, they hosted the 3rd Annual “4 the Kids” event, hosting 275 local elementary school children on campus for events, games and lunch. Talking with the campus newspaper, immediate Past President, Jack Cheap said that “It’s about inspiring hope and making a difference and I think we definitely accomplished that here today” when discussing the philanthropic efforts of the chapter. They continued this semester and raised $5,000 dollars for Children’s Miracle Network through their annual Get on the Ball event on campus as well as raising money for Troy Camp though their partnership with Alpha Phi at the USC Songfest. For their efforts over the past year, Alpha Delta was recognized with the President’s Award for Overall Excellence for Fraternities on campus as well as awards for New Member Programming, Membership Development, and Community Service. Coupled with brothers serving as President for the Inter-Fraternity Council, Order of Omega, and Gamma Sigma Alpha and being involved in numerous clubs and organizations on campus, the Alpha Delta chapter has had a great year, and they’ve been preparing for what will hopefully be an even stronger 2012-2013 year. It’s great to be a ZBT at Alpha Delta-University of Southern California. |
