About Standards of Excellence
Zeta Beta Tau's Standards of Excellence program is designed to be a chapter/colony self-evaluation. It provides your chapter/colony a way to evaluate its strengths, documents its successes and determine areas for improvement which can inform your future goal setting. The Fraternity relies on this program to get common metrics from each chapter/colony that allows us to determine what kinds of resources can be shared between the brotherhood while also understanding how to better serve our chapters and colonies.
It is important to understand that the Standards of Excellence program does not exist to create uniform chapters and colonies across the country, rather to help chapters and colonies realize the basic set of operations they should be employing in their day-to-day operations. Know that many chapters and colonies typically go above and beyond the minimum expectations set out in the current form of the program.
The Standards of Excellence program is a vital component to ensuring future chapter and colony success by helping provide a way for undergraduate leadership to learn strong document retention and writing down current procedures so they can pass this information on to those that follow in their footsteps. Additionally, the need for the Fraternity to collect large amounts of data to help expand the Fraternity to new campuses and to showcase the great work of the brotherhood is a goal of this process as well.
The application has a variety of areas and fields which require some writing and description, documentation and letters of support from advisors, campus administration and philanthropic or other non-profit organizations. Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to complete all components of the application.
Each chapter or colony should only use or create one login for submission of Standards of Excellence. You may have an existing account if you have previously applied for a scholarship with the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation.
About International Awards
The chapter/colony Standards of Excellence reporting program is used in conjunction with International Awards to determine award winners annually. Each year the Fraternity recognizes individuals (undergraduate, alumni and friends of ZBT) and chapters/colonies for achievement in programming, recruitment, philanthropy and more. Special awards may be given at the discretion of Fraternity leadership. View a listing of all Zeta Beta Tau International awards here.
