Brotherhood for a Lifetime Oral History Project
Every brother has a story, and Zeta Beta Tau wants to hear yours.
That’s why we’ve decided to embark on a new project, the Brotherhood for a Lifetime oral history book project, to collect the stories of alumni in their own words. These stories will be preserved in a printed book that celebrates the merged fraternities that comprise our Brotherhood — Kappa Nu, Phi Alpha, Phi Sigma Delta, Phi Epsilon Pi and Zeta Beta Tau — and the impact this organization has had on brothers’ lives and who they are today.
What memory will you share?
- Has a brother, advisor or alumnus had a profound impact on your life?
- Can you trace your career path back to a defining moment in the Fraternity, at an event or while serving in a role?
- Have your chapter connections turned into lifelong friendships?
- Were you an undergraduate in the Fraternity during a notable moment in history?
- Did members of your family join Zeta Beta Tau? Are you a legacy, or did you support a legacy who’s a relative?
It is, and will always be, great to be a ZBT!
How to participate
To submit your story or to update your information, please call the number listed on the postcard or email you received or call our partner, PCI, at 1-888-920-1772. Brothers will receive postcards and emails starting mid-October and may submit stories through March.
About Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI): As good stewards of our brothers’ time and resources, ZBT International Headquarters would not be able to tackle a project of this scale on our own. By partnering with PCI, we’re able to access their trained staff of real, live human beings who are ready to listen to what you have to say and are trained to share great memories. PCI collects and assembles the stories into the Brotherhood for a Lifetime book that we then share with all ZBTs.
Important: We have partnered with PCI for several years and they are a vetted service provider. ZBT only shared your contact information with PCI in conjunction with this project. We have NOT sold your contact information, or otherwise used it for outside marketing purposes.
Frequently Asked Questions
I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information and a story about Zeta Beta Tau. Is this a legitimate project or is it a scam?
It’s legit! We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce this oral history publication for the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, Texas, that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the U.S. for almost 100 years. This project allows Zeta Beta Tau Foundation to hear about your personal experiences and explain how Zeta Beta Tau has helped shape your life.
Do I have to buy something?
No. This project is being done at no cost to the individual brother.
The project is completely funded by the ZBTs who choose to purchase the Brotherhood for a Lifetime book that will be produced at the end of the project. Various book packages will be offered.
PCI will also offer you the option to purchase other ZBT branded merchandise such as a T-shirt, sweatshirt and/or travel bag. You are welcome to purchase these items, but you are not required to do so to participate in the project or order the book.
We’d never be able to embark on a project like this without the support of our amazing brothers and the partnership with PCI. We sincerely thank every person who participates and chooses to purchase a book.
How do I know my information will only be used for this project?
Zeta Beta Tau and PCI are committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Brotherhood for a Lifetime book will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in or in the preparation of the oral history project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact personal identifiable information from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the project.

Does the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation benefit from this?
Yes, in a few different ways:
- Updated information: This allows us to more effectively communicate with and engage brothers.
- Longevity: This book helps preserve the history of our Fraternity.
- Revenue: This project generates revenue that supports educational programs for undergraduate brothers outside of what is funded by dues and fees.
- ZBT Pride: Wearing Fraternity apparel shows support and love for ZBT!
