SUMMARY:Social Responsibility: A Call to Action
DESCRIPTION:Social Responsibility: Fraternity requires the individual to commit himself and accept his responsibility to participate. With the current harm being done to people in the Black community\, our Credo calls upon us to actively participate in situations of injustice such as these. It is now more important than ever to fight hate and intolerance. This session will allow space for conversations about the role you and ZBT can play in fighting hate in your communities. We will talk about education\, how you can get involved\, and ways to talk about fighting hate. \nRegister HERE.

SUMMARY:Community Space for Black ZBT Brothers (Alumni and Undergraduates)
DESCRIPTION:Community Space for Black ZBT Brothers \nZBT has created a community space for our brothers who are Black. This is an opportunity for brotherhood\, support\, and community and to connect about anything – not just ZBT. The common racial identity does not mean their experiences are exactly the same nor that they believe the same way. However\, there are common experiences our Black brothers share in that others cannot understand. This space will be led by brother Dr. Sean Colbert-Lewis (Delta Xi – Virginia Tech) 1993\, and brother Antonio Young (Zeta Alpha) 1998. This opportunity is open to both Black undergraduate and alumni brothers. \nREGISTER HERE \nFor those who might have questions\, here are a few answers: \n\nWhy is this necessary? Affinity spaces are imperative for brothers who\, in many ways\, share similar lived experiences. This space is not being created to divide brothers but rather to strengthen our Black brothers’ experiences within ZBT by being connected with brothers who share in their identities.\nI’m not Black\, but I am a brother of color. Will there be a space for me? Yes. We are working to develop this space for July. More details to come!

SUMMARY:(Re)Learning How to Talk to Each Other
DESCRIPTION:Want to stay relevant in an ever-changing world? People are demanding we acknowledge\, pay attention to\, and care about one another. Lots of people want to jump to the concepts of social justice\, equity\, social constructions\, and more\, but we’re missing the foundation: Language. Words have ended relationships and started worldwide conflict; let’s stop pretending our language doesn’t matter. Most people hide behind “words only have power if you give it to them” because using inclusive language is seen as a burden. Join the presenter in discussing the power of language and its lasting impacts. Instead of staying silent or saying the wrong thing\, let’s learn the right things to say. There will be times of discomfort. Let’s step out of our comfort zones together. \nRegister HERE.

SUMMARY:2020 International Convention
DESCRIPTION:The ZBT International Convention has been cancelled five times since the first was held in 1907 (all due to war)\, but not this year. As we continue to monitor the impacts that COVID-19 has on the operations of the Fraternity and see restrictions around gathering in large groups and the uncertainty around travel\, it seemed as though we may have been faced with our sixth Convention cancellation in our history. However\, things have changed since the last cancellation in 1945\, and resources exist now that did not then. Instead of cancelling the 2020 International Convention\, we are taking the opportunity to re-imagine what is possible and we are excited to announce Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity’s 2020 Virtual International Convention! There is no way that a virtual experience can be the same as gathering together in Washington\, D.C.\, and we will not try to re-create that experience online. Our focus will be on ensuring the business of the Fraternity that must be done in accordance with the ZBT International Constitution[ is completed and celebrating 2020 award recipients. Our chapters and brothers have worked incredibly hard this year and deserve recognition. \nWe are excited about the opportunities that this format will provide. We hope that Convention will be more accessible than ever\, and more alumni and undergraduate brothers can participate in this important event. \nBe Monumental. This is the theme for our 2020 International Convention. When we announced our theme\, we had no idea how monumental each of you would have to be in these recent months. ZBTs have shown just how monumental they are in stepping up to help those in need\, adapting to changes\, and leading through uncertainty. While we will not physically be together in July\, we know that the monumental experience we will share will be memorable. ZBT has long been a leader in providing digital brotherhood experiences and we are proud to host our first virtual Convention! \n  \nUpdated Schedule- July 26\, 2020 \nBusiness Meeting: This includes electing new international officers\, updates from the organizations that support the Fraternity\, and a memorial service to honor those entering the Chapter Eternal.  1:00PM EDT/10:00AM PDT \nNew Officer Installation: This will be an “on-demand” video you can watch at any time. The video will be streamed live at 6:30PM EDT/3:30PM PDT. \nAwards Celebration: This will include all chapter\, individual and special award announcements starting live at 7:00PM EDT/4:00PM PDT. We will also present the Brummer Cup for Most Outstanding Chapter. \nWe have a new registration site for our virtual convention. Please find that link here.\nPlease note that you will need to register by July 17\, 2020. Questions about registration can be sent to headquarters@zbtnational.org. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Confronting Hate and Extremism in Online Gaming and Social Media: What families don’t know will hurt them\, an internet guide for parents
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with ADL Florida we are excited to continue its virtual series Empowering Our Children with the next webinar Confronting Hate and Extremism in Online Gaming and Social Media: What families don’t know will hurt them\, an internet guide for parents. \nThe webinar will feature ADL experts\, Daniel Kelley\, Associate Director\, ADL Center for Technology and Society and Lauren Krapf\, ADL National Policy Counsel\, who will provide you with tools and resources to build safe and positive spaces for your children’s online play and social interactions . You will also hear about ADL’s efforts with the gaming industry to make online gaming safer by strengthening their rating systems\, terms of service\, and increased transparency on reporting of hate incidents on the platforms. \nA recent ADL study on online gaming found that “74% of online players have experienced some form of harassment and 64% of those players have expressed this harassment to severe and sustained.” While we recognize that extremism and hate online is not going away anytime soon we want you and your children to be empowered and equipped to confront negative experiences.  Click here to register or to learn more. \nEnter promo code ‘ZBT’ when registering.
