Confronting Hate and Extremism in Online Gaming and Social Media: What families don’t know will hurt them, an internet guide for parents

August 19, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In partnership with ADL Florida we are excited to continue its virtual series Empowering Our Children with the next webinar Confronting Hate and Extremism in Online Gaming and Social Media: What families don’t know will hurt them, an internet guide for parents.

The webinar will feature ADL experts, Daniel Kelley, Associate Director, ADL Center for Technology and Society and Lauren Krapf, ADL National Policy Counsel, who will provide you with tools and resources to build safe and positive spaces for your children’s online play and social interactions . You will also hear about ADL’s efforts with the gaming industry to make online gaming safer by strengthening their rating systems, terms of service, and increased transparency on reporting of hate incidents on the platforms.

A recent ADL study on online gaming found that “74% of online players have experienced some form of harassment and 64% of those players have expressed this harassment to severe and sustained.” While we recognize that extremism and hate online is not going away anytime soon we want you and your children to be empowered and equipped to confront negative experiences.  Click here to register or to learn more.
