Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement, when Jews ask forgiveness for the wrongs committed over the past year. Traditionally, Jews fast on this somber day and also refrain from other bodily indulgences. Yom Kippur falls 10 days after Rosh Hashanah and lasts one day. It begins at sundown and concludes at sundown the following day. The fast itself lasts 25 hours.
