To the ZBT Family: Here’s to a prosperous 2018
2017 has been an incredibly challenging year for the greater Fraternity and Sorority Community. As fraternity men, we must always remember that fraternities exist to build people up, not break them down. Hazing has no place in the Greek community, a principle we have supported for more than 25 years since we abolished pledging and all two-tier membership practices in 1989. We must come together to create a culture of change within our community.
Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity is proud that we have been a changemaker since our 1898 founding in response to the discrimination of Jewish men. The values of our Credo call for brothers to lead lives pursuing Intellectual Awareness, with a sense of Social Responsibility, committed to personal Integrity and showing a passion for Brotherly Love. This means that health and safety is a top priority of the international organization and we are providing innovative but consistent education for our brothers. We have earned national honors for our work in creating safe environments through harm reduction programs.
Alumni, parents, campus administrators and the international fraternity must continue to work together to uphold strong expectations and provide education that fosters health and safety for all students. Every brother and family member can get involved with opportunities to mentor and support today’s college student.
ZBT is represented on campuses across in North America and has more than 140,000 undergraduate and alumni brothers worldwide. We know that it is up to us to encourage healthy decision making, to promote positive relationships and to change the negative image of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
We have a traditional saying: “‘A ZBT’ is synonymous with ‘a gentleman.’” It is our goal as an international organization to give each young man in our Brotherhood the tools to be that gentleman.
Looking forward to 2018, Zeta Beta Tau will elevate what we do to show our campuses and communities why it’s great to be a ZBT.
